Next Plus is a specialised program at Next School that’s created for children with diverse needs like Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual and Learning Disorders, ADHD and other conditions. We’re currently open to learners from age 6 to 12.

THE TWO PIECES
BIG PICTURE
Big Picture is the revolutionary program we run at Next that focuses on real world learning and learning by doing. It is completely personalised for each child.
ONE ON ONE SESSIONS
One on one sessions with the advisor help unearth the unique passions and interests of each student and also help address personal challenges.
PASSION PROJECTS
The advisors help each student take up real world projects based on their interests and also helps set goals, track progress and give feedback.
INTERNSHIPS
The internship program helps older students integrate into the real world and figure out what kind of work they will enjoy based on their interests.
FUNCTIONAL LEARNING
Functional learning skills are focused on helping the student be independent and also learn to work in and contribute to society effectively.
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
Learning literacy and numeracy not through the traditional methods but through real world experiences.
INDEPENDENT LIVING
Developing skills in areas of hygiene, personal care, cooking, managing finances, household management, travel and safety.
A DAY AT NEXT
NUMERACY
Students learn about handling money, handling data, scheduling, reading clocks, measurements, problem solving, etc.
LITERACY
Reading and comprehending information. For example reading directions, finding information on google, following recipes, writing emails, filling forms, etc.
PASSION PROJECT
Students work on real world projects based on their interests by following the Big Picture philosophyand process.
PHYSICAL FITNESS
A critical aspect to not only support overall health and well being but also to help improve motor coordination, flexibility and body awareness.
ART
A great medium of expression and also helps develop motor skills. And could even translate into a medium of livelihood.
MUSIC
Music can be therapeutical and also a great way to express and communicate.
OUR TEAM
AKSHATA SHETTY
Akshata Shetty has earned her M.A. degree in Clinical Psychology and completed her coursework for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from Florida Institute of Technology.She has enjoyed working with learners with diverse needs for 13 plus years. Before joining NEXT she has worked at Global Hospital, Parel and has been a consultant psychologist at various centers and clinics. She has also contributed to clinical books, magazines, research papers, publications and newspaper articles. She is trained and experienced in conducting psychometric testing, assessments and psychotherapy for both the pediatric and adult population. As a behavior analyst and psychologist, she focuses on the overall cognitive, social, emotional and behavioral development of the learners. She specializes in working with learners on the autism spectrum disorders, ADHD and learning related delays.
SEEMA JAIN
Seema has completed her B.Ed and M.Ed from SNDT women’s university, Juhu. She has a Diploma in in natural auditory oral approach from National Institute of Education (NIE) Singapore. She has worked with children with visual and hearing impairment, autism, learning disabilities and global developmental delay, focusing on academic integration and independent life skills coaching. She has been passionately working with young learners for 15 plus years as an educator. She has taught in India, Singapore, UK along with in service training and teaching experiences in Japan. She has contributed papers in international teacher conferences focusing on teaching and pedagogy for children with special needs.
EKTA D’SOUZA
Ekta holds an International Diploma in Montessori Education for Autism andWaldon Therapy certificate from London. She has a B.Ed in Special Education, an MBA in Marketing and a post graduate diploma in Human Resources. She is a special educator who loves to teach the way a student wants to learn with11 years of experience teaching learners the art of assisting discovery in a way that accommodates their individual differences and special needs. She has taught in Mumbai as well as London.
